What's New in 9.4.0.0

The release of OIPA 9.4.0.0 contains significant enhancements to the OIPA application. An explanation of the enhancements is provided below. Click the links within each enhancement to see the prototype samples and additional information provided in this help system.

Enhancements Included in 9.4.0.0

Activity Processing enhancements
- An activity can be configured to automatically reverse itself during processing based on specific configured business conditions. The new attached business rule, PostAssignmentValidateExpression, was added to control this.
- The CopyToPendingActivityFields business rule was enhanced to conditionally update a set of Activity Fields. Error logic is included so that if one activity attempts to update the activity fields of an activity that is not in pending status, an error is thrown and the activity process is halted.
- Comments can be added to activities that are configured to support comments. OIPA users can view, edit and delete these comments based on their security privileges.
- The CopyToWithholdingFields business rule allows an activity to update one or more Withholding fields associated to a policy, plan, client or activity.
- The accounting section runs with each execution of the activity but it only writes accounting detail once for each Chart of Accounts entry.
Client enhancements
- The DuplicateClient business rule was implemented to alert a user when a duplicate client is present in OIPA.
Currency enhancements
- Original currency details are captured in accounting information.
- Currency codes are validated before Money data type fields or Currency data type math variables are passed into a Money data type field. The original source currency code can be retained using CopyTo or Create type rules.
- Currency conversion can be performed inside of the math using a specified date to determine the exchange rate to be used.

Internationalization enhancements
- The Client screen was enhanced to support foreign markets.
- The Address screen was enhanced to support foreign addresses.
- The CALENDAR and FORMAT attributes were added to the Date field in support of foreign date and calendar requirements.
Roles enhancements
- Roles can be added to segments.
- Multiple policy roles can be updated when a single activity is processed.
- CopyToRoleField rule was enhanced to support the use of math variables with a TYPE=COLLECTION as a From field value. The collection can also be manipulated manually.
- The AddRoles business rule was implemented.
Suspense enhancements
- When processing an activity that also links to a suspense record (e.g. PremiumDeposit or SuspenseRefund), OIPA allows the user to view the activity accounting through the Accounting Detail tab on the activity and also on the Suspense Screen.
- The <Disbursement> element was modified to support the refund of monies from suspense at a client level creating a disbursement.
- When multiple suspense items are attached to a single activity, OIPA will verify that the currencies of each suspense item match the premium currency selected on the activity. This validation also exists for individual suspense items.
- The Suspense accounting window will show the original amount, original currency, MarketMaker GUID, exchange rate date and exchange rate for amounts that are exchanged to a base currency.
Security enhancements
- Field level security was implemented. OIPA can restrict a user from viewing or editing fields based on the user's security privileges.
- Security was divided into three major sections: Company Security, Plan Security and Transaction Security.
- Web Services security can be updated by a user in the Web Services security editor.
- Masking support was added to fields. Field data can be replaced by characters and validations can be performed to ensure values meet mask requirements.
Unit Linked Template
- OIPA can automatically update the effective date of an activity as a way to transfer Gain/Loss to the client. This new functionality is needed for Unit Linked activity processing to validate that an activity can process and systematically set the activity’s effective date to the current system date without accessing the UI.
- An indicator was added for transactions to allow last known pricing information to be accessed by assignment.
- Rolling valuation is supported. OIPA can process math calculations after the assignment processing has begun and each time the transaction processes in the NUV Pending state. Additionally, the Accounting and Spawn sections of the transaction can run with each execution of the activity.
- The Math section of the PostAssignmentValidateExpressions rule was enhanced to allow configuration to access the state of the Valuation records held in memory as the activity processes but before it is written to the database tables. A looping method was added to access these valuation amounts.
- A new Switch assignment was added to support the unit linked product.
- A new Withdrawal assignment was added to support the unit linked product.
- Funds of different base currencies can be attached to a single policy and traded among other funds available to the policy within the Plan. A base valuation currency is defined at the Plan level and each source fund currency must pass through this base before being converted to the target fund currency value (except where the source and target are of the same currency). Primary to this conversion or exchange is the exchange rate from one currency to the next and this is defined by the Market Maker record attached to the Plan or Company. Exchanges can only occur on days that the Market Maker provides exchange rates, usually business days as defined by the Market Maker’s calendar.
